Other than the Obama house, Martha's Vineyard has a scattering of homes that belong to – or have been rented by – the rich and famous, both past and present. They include the Jackie Kennedy Onassis house , Oprah Winfrey , Larry David and Bill Gates. Martha's Vineyard is an island south of Cape Cod in Massachusetts, USA, and is famous as a summer vacation destination for Americans – and vacationers from other countries.
Could that be where Barack Obama keeps all of his favorite books? Although there's not a whole lot of natural light, as is pretty much standard for all basements, the large space can still manage to be both inviting and cozy. A wall of windows lets in plenty of natural light, but, even if it didn't, recessed lighting and a brass ceiling fixture would keep the room well-lit, as seen in pictures for the home's 2014 listing. The Obamas may have kept the neutral bluish gray walls and crown molding that exude elegance, as well as the thick draperies that provide privacy and block out any unwanted morning light. Although the room isn't extravagantly large, statement furniture can still fit comfortably. While no closet can be spotted in the 2014 real estate listing photo, Michelle's dressing room is likely a short walk from the master.

"We're going to have to stay a couple of years in D.C. probably so Sasha can finish," he told CNN. "Transferring someone in the middle of high school? Tough." The Obamas are back from the vacation of a lifetime and settling into their new Washington D.C. She wore a leather jacket and matching pants designed by Palmer Harding. She wore a neon-yellow suit with gold buttons designed by Proenza Schouler. This year, Obama began promoting her second book, "The Light We Carry," with a colorful appearance on the "Today" show.

The Obamas are moving out of the White House and moving to the tony Kalorama neighborhood of D.C. The family plans to lease a nine-bedroom, 8,200-square-foot mansion, and calling it gorgeous would be doing the property and house a disservice. The mansion features nine bedrooms and nine baths and was built in 1928. The Ghosts of DC website says it was first listed at $50,000 back in the day; the last sale went to ex-White House Press Secretary Joe Lockhart, who still owns the property, for $5.3 million. Former president and first lady Barack and Michelle Obama opted to stay in Washington D.C. At least until their youngest daughter, Sasha, finishes high school.
The 9-bedroom mansion with 8.5 baths may not have the same notoriety as the family's current abode, but it still boasts plenty of suburban charm and even a few historical touches . A gated courtyard should suffice to hold multiple secret service vehicles, which will be needed once the president leaves office. The Obamas most likely haven’t spent much time in the home — they have been photographed traveling the world since Barack Obama left office in January. The Obamas have purchased the 8,200-square-foot home they’ve been living in since moving out of the White House, The Washington Post reported. There is a stunning galleried living space with windows on three sides in the new Obama house, too.
President Obama Opens Up About Sasha and Malia’s Time in the White House
When speaking to Oprah Winfrey in 2018, Michelle revealed what it was like to be home alone for one of the first times in some eight years. Michelle then brought her toast outside, where she sat on the stoop overlooking her backyard alongside her dogs. "And it's that quiet moment of me settling into this new life," she poetically stated.Ah. From the 2014 photos of the exterior of the home, it has all the markings of a classic Tudor, with its white-washed brick facade and steeply pitched roof, which appears to be slate. The family's house also sits up from the street, making it look even more stately.
A less formal sitting room in the home had a full wall of windows and French doors leading out to the backyard. While the less formal room also had the conversational seating and fireplace, a TV sat above the mantle in place of a large piece of art. So, if you're wondering where the former president and first lady binge-watch all their shows, it might just be in this room.
You might be thinking that if Sasha Obama has the best room, her older sister, Malia Obama, must have the second-best, right? "She's got a room up in the attic somewhere, Malia," Michelle Obama told Ellen Degeneres on her show. "She's away at college. You don't waste rooms on college kids," the former first lady joked, inciting laughter from the audience. She has been scouring the Internet for the buzziest Southern news since joining the team in 2017. Meghan is passionate about animals, current events, history, gardening, and making people smile.
The Obamas' new-ish neighborhood is Kalorama, an exclusive and wealthy enclave that is home to a host of politicians and diplomats; Ivanka Trump and Jared Kushner, as well as Rex Tillerson live there. Lots of rooms for friends and family to stay with bedrooms furnished with bunk beds. The purchase price, with the Dukes County Registry of Deeds, is listed at $11.75 million. The former president and his family spent part of every August on the Island for seven out of the eight years he was in office. The pool area is simply beautiful, surrounded by trees and foliage – for a really private space to unwind. The area has been popular with vacationing celebrities and politicians for many decades – Presidents Clinton and Kennedy both spent the holidays here with their families.
But in January, that's what President Obama and his family, Michelle, Malia and Sasha, are going to have to do. Two of the home's eight other bedrooms will go to the Obamas' daughters, Sasha and Malia. Still in high school, Sasha has at least two more years under her parents' roof. There are numerous spaces for the family to kick back and relax, including a formal living room ...
